Wind, Wave and Turtles

AP Limited Editions presents a splendid Maki-e feature in Urushi and Titanium powder. Crafted in heritage technique, Waves are drawn with black Urushi lacquer and Titanium powder, creating majestic waves that appear to be rising and kissing the Wind. The skill and precision of the hand of the Maki-e Shi is evident in the expert rendition of thin and long wave lines across a curved surface using a rarely used, special brush made from exotic animal hair. The turtles are created with Takamaki-e on shells raised by silver powder, and finished with gold powder. The shells are made translucent so that it looks as if it is lit from within.
