Nio

AP Limited Editions pays tribute to the Guardian deity Nio; the protector of shrines and the bestower of good health. Crafted in Shishiai Togidashi Maki-e, this superb fine writing instrument is decked with many fine details and expressions of lacquer art. The splendor of the interior walls, ceiling and pillars of the shrine is crafted with many different sizes and hues of Gold powder, Kirikane, and colored shells.

A powerful Nio is expressed in raised Gold Maki-e grabbing the neck of an evil spirit that dared to threaten the sanctity of the shrine. Swirls of clouds drift in and out through the gates of the shrine where the Nio stands tall, waiting to nab any remaining evil spirits that wait in hiding. The nib section reveals a beautiful pattern of elliptical shapes in Blue Raden and Gold Kirikane.
