The Monkey Trio is a very special Chinkin pen crafted in the Ten-bori technique of Chinkin where designs are engraved and carved with points which can be as small as 0.1 mm! The entire surface of this fine writing instrument has been meticulously chiseled with such fine points to reveal a bold rendition of three playful monkeys frolicking in the forest.

The Chinkin technique of Japanese ornamental lacquer art is a wondrous technique where designs are meticulously carved onto Urushi lacquer and then gold and silver powder is sprinkled into the engraved sections. This technique requires steadfast concentration and excellent control of the fine chisels and instruments used for carving as there is absolutely no room for error.
