Painted with brilliant colors against an ivory backdrop, The Rooster stands proudly as the male chicken that protects his flock of hens. The Rooster is also one of the twelve signs of the Chinese zodiac, where it signifies good fortune and protection. Rooster iconography can be traced back to ancient Greece where the Rooster was considered a solar emblem and sacred to that culture. We continue to see the symbol of a Rooster perched on a weathervane on top of many European churches.
