AP Limited Editions presents RADIANT MOTIFS, a very unusual Maki-e product handcrafted with the precious metal platinum in a tribute to the Sultans of the Mughal court under whose patronage, the arts and crafts reached their zenith in the late 17th century, early 18th century period of Indian history.
Flowering shrubs and birds form a decorative pattern that represents the classic Mughal design palette also found in the paintings and textiles of that era. Many metals such as gold, silver, copper, bronze and other were sculpted into objects of ceremonial use and weaponry of the times. They were technically perfect and aesthetically splendid and were often inlaid with jewels and ivory.
AP Limited Editions pays tribute to the rich heritage of the time and adds a contemporary two dimensional twist to a vintage design using the technique of Maki-e with platinum to author the motifs of the Mughal court with a new radiance.
