The skill and distinction in the brush of the Maki-e Shi (Maki-e Artists) is inherent in the simplicity and complexity of design that is both pictorial and abstract.
It is not surprising that this amazing technique called Maki-e, translated as ‘sprinkled picture; handed down from the Heian period in Japanese history, continues to enthrall art lovers across time and culture.
